Region VI Recognized Evergreen with \Star of Excellence Award"

At the Region VI VPP Conference held in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 9-10 2010, Evergreen received the prestigious "Star of Excellence" award. OSHA VPP recognizes about 100 "Star Among Stars" award recipients and the award is given to companies who have been a VPP site for at least one year and show improvement in their total recordable incidents by 50% or more. Evergreen qualified for the elite "Star of Excellence" designation because their incidents rate went from 0.57 to zero, which resulted in a 100% improvement.

Representatives who attended the conference on behalf of Evergreen included VP HSE Bill Shaw, VP Operations Scott Flanagan and Corpus Christi Branch Manager Tommy Delesandri. Evergreen was recognized for having two VPP sites, one at Valero Houston refinery and one at Evergreen's Texas City branch location. Bill Shaw commented on the award, "This award is recognition that our employees do their JSA's and follow our safety procedures on a daily basis and the result is no one is getting hurt." Scott Flanagan commented on the award, "It was great being part of a group that clearly showed commitment to safety. Several of the award recipients have multiple VPP sites. My goal is to increase our participation in VPP by adding more VPP worksites."
