Evergreen Recognized by U.S. Congressman for VPP Star Status

Robert Quarles representing U.S. Congressman Pete Olson presented a plaque and a United States flag that has flown above the U.S. Capitol in Washington DC to Evergreen Industrial Services. Robert Quarles congratulated Evergreen on receiving the OSHA VPP Star Award for their Texas City location. In his remarks, Mr. Quarles read some of the wording on the plaque:

"It is an honor to congratulate Evergreen's sanction into the VPP, OSHA's official acknowledgment of the efforts of the Evergreen employees to attain exemplary occupational safety and health standards. It is immense praise for all the men and women of Evergreen to receive this high honor and I offer my utmost gratitude and regards on this praiseworthy occasion."

With 85 people in the audience, Evergreen was honored at a VPP Star Award Ceremony held in Texas City on March 3, 2010. Evergreen's outstanding safety achievement was recognized by local and national OSHA VPP representatives, Galveston County, the City of Texas City, the Governor of Texas, and Senator Mike Jackson.

Jon Hodges, Mark Stoffel, and Bill Shaw accepted the plaque and flag from Robert Quarles. Presentation of VPP plaque and VPP flag from OSHA was made to Evergreen President & CEO Jon Hodges by Kevin Rockwell, Houston South VPP Coordinator for OSHA.

Jon Hodges plans to display the United States flag and the congratulatory plaque at the Evergreen corporate office in La Porte, Texas. The OSHA VPP flag will fly at the Texas City Branch office and the VPP plaque is displayed at both the corporate office and the Texas City office.
