"Evergreen Day" Proclaimed by City of Texas City

The Office of the Mayor of Texas City proclaimed March 3, 2010 as "Evergreen Industrial Services Day" in Texas City, Texas. Evergreen was honored in recognition of achieving the prestigious OSHA VPP Site Star Certification at their Texas City branch location.

Representing the city and the mayor's office, Texas City Mayor ProTem Mike Land presented the proclamation to Evergreen at the VPP celebration held at the Charles Doyle Convention Center in Texas City on March 3. About 85 people attended the VPP Star Award Ceremony for Evergreen Industrial Services.

Evergreen customers, guests, and employees enjoyed lunch and the award ceremony as OSHA VPP representatives presented the VPP flag and VPP plaque to Jon Hodges, President and CEO. After an extensive qualification process that began July 2008 for the Texas City branch, Evergreen was notified in January 2010 by OSHA that they were approved. "Hurricane Ike blew the roof off of Evergreen's Texas City branch, but the application for VPP Star remained a top priority" stated Texas City Branch Manager Mark Stoffel.

At the ceremony, Evergreen received accolades on behalf of Texas Governor Rick Perry, U.S. Congressman Pete Olson, Texas City Mayor Matthew Doyle and Senator Mike Jackson. Proclamations were read congratulating Evergreen on its excellent safety practices and the VPP Star Site Award.

As reported by The Galveston Daily News, Evergreen is in an elite group of three contractor companies in the Texas City area who have received the Star Status by OSHA. Evergreen President Jon Hodges recognized the hard work and dedication of the Evergreen employees in the journey to be VPP Star Certified.
