Evergreen is Honored at Coastal Bend Safety Council Banquet
June 4, 2009
The Contractors Safety Council of Coastal Bend honored Evergreen Industrial Services at their Annual Safety Excellence Awards Program on June 4, 2009. The awards banquet was held at the Corpus Christi Convention Center. Marian Magee, a representative from OSHA, was the keynote speaker.
The criteria used for awards included OSHA statistics for companies who worked in the South Texas counties including Matagorda, Victoria, Goliad, Cameron, Nueces and others. Evergreen qualified through their perfect safety record at the Flint Hills Turnaround where hydroblasting services and vacuum services were provided. Evergreen also had a perfect safety record for 2008 at Citgo in Corpus Christi where tank cleaning services were provided.
Bill Shaw, VP HSE for Evergreen commented on the award, "We worked a lot of hours for a month. We got the Flint Hills contract that we have now as a result of our company's performance on that turnaround. We worked at Flint Hill for over a month for two 12-hour shifts per day that included 48 people. Tommy Delesandri was responsible for setting up all the site-specific safety training and background checks for all the crew members. Terry Blevins was the Evergreen Safety Coordinator for the turnaround. Everyone did an excellent job and we are honored to receive the award."
