Evergreen Garners Two Awards at ISTC Safety Banquet
May 19, 2009
Evergreen Industrial Services was invited to attend the Industrial Safety Training Council Annual Safety Awards Banquet on May19, 2009 held at the Holiday Inn in Beaumont, Texas. Beaumont Branch Manager Rod Coble and Safety Coordinator Joe Joiner attended the awards banquet as representatives for Evergreen. Evergreen was one of several companies recognized for their excellent safety performance and received two awards.
- 2009 Safety Achievement Award Years Worked, presented to Evergreen
for having worked 4 years without an OSHA lost work day case involving
days away from work
- 2009 Safety Achievement Award Sustained Performance, presented to Evergreen for having sustained a zero recordable incidence rate for 3 consecutive years
To receive an award, you must have a perfect safety record for the entire year at the refinery and chemical sites in the Golden Triangle area (cities in the Beaumont, Port Arthur, and Orange area). Other determinations for an award include safety achievement over multiple years, sustained performance and incidence rate. Evergreen had crews working in 2008 at Arkema in Beaumont providing chemical cleaning, hydroblasting, and vacuum services and working at ExxonMobil Beaumont hydroblasting heat exchanger bundles and performing chemical cleaning services. Previously, Evergreen earned two awards in 2005 and four awards in 2007.
Bill Shaw, VP HSE for Evergreen, commented on the award, “Winning the award is a great thing. It is important to have a good safety record as it keeps the doors open to keep working at plants like ExxonMobil. It is a challenge to work at ExxonMobil, Beaumont; they have really strict safety guidelines for short service workers at the site (new to their plant). Short service workers are identified by special arm bands and must have a long-term worker working with them. These employees are easily recognized with the yellow arm band that they wear for six months. It increases the safety awareness of other employees.” The two award plaques are now hanging at Evergreen's Nederland office and hard hat decals have been passed out to the employees working in the Golden Triangle area.
Evergreen's Beaumont Branch Manager, Rod Coble, is shown with the two award plaques from ISTC.
